ISO 14001

Certification that your environmental system operates in compliance to external standards

Once your environmental system is fully documented and has been operating for at least 3 months then you may proceed with registration. The six steps to certification are outlined below, along with the costs:

STEPS TO ISO 14001 CERTIFICATION

Step 1

Forward a completed environmental questionnaire (please request the questionnaire from your local office). The questionnaire is a vital tool for URS, as it enables us to obtain a clear picture of your business in terms of environmental issues. From the questionnaire we can supply you with a detailed quotation and select an appropriate auditor.

Step 2

Submit a completed application form and application fee.
Submit a copy of the environmental documented system for review.

Step 3

The auditor will contact you to arrange a preliminary site survey to check that the system is structured to meet the actual site requirements.
The auditor will tour the site to ensure that no major aspects have been overlooked and that the audit selection team is correct.
The visit creates a forum for questions and answers for the auditor and the client ensuring common understanding.

Step 4

The on-site audit is conducted.
A formal report is produced. The recommendation for certification or otherwise will be stated at the close of the audit.

Step 5

Following any corrective actions from the audit, the formal certificate will be raised and the company shall be placed on surveillance. Following any corrective actions from the audit, the formal certificate will be raised and the company shall be placed on surveillance.

Step 6

Surveillance visits will be conducted annually. The number will be based on the complexity and environmental impact of the site.
Surveillance visits will be previously agreed via the quotation and confirmed at the final meeting of the on-site audit.
